Japanese kimono are sewn by hand to ensure the proper drape and quality, and they are still hand-sewn even today. Sunday, 12 July: Textile Festival, Quarry Bank Mill & Styal Estate, Styal, Cheshire. 11:00 a.m until 4:00 p.m. This is a fascinating National Trust property with an operating cotton mill and beautiful gardens and grounds.
1st and 2nd August: Silk Art to Wear, The Guild of Silk Painters Summer Silk Festival, Rodbaston College, Penkridge, Stafford. Two days of workshops, beautiful silk displays and of course, traders, including clothaholics!
